RIGID CONTACT LENSES.1. HARD LENSESThese are the original Contact Lenses. I no longer fit them but I will supply replacement Lenses. 2. GAS PERMEABLEA. Quantum 1These are a Second Generation Lens and provide enough Oxygen to be very comfortable for most wearers. B. Quantum 2These are a Third Generation Lens and provide about three times more Oxygen than The Quantum 1 Lens. They will be of benefit for those wearers who are having problems with rigid Lens wear and for those who want the best. Orthokeratology. These lenses reshape the eye so that you can see without Lenses or spectacles all day. KeratoconusThis condition can usually be fitted with a specially designed RGP contact lens. SOFT CONTACT LENSES
These are classified by the frequency of replacement. We call them Disposable if they are replaced every month or less, but all Soft Lenses are much the same. DAILY DISPOSABLEThis is a brilliant idea, you have a new pair of Lenses every day!. No solutions to worry about and you always have a clean Lens. They are slightly more expensive than other modes but are the ultimate in convenience and hygiene. TWO WEEK REPLACEMENTI use Acuvue for patients who need the maximum comfort from the Lenses and for those patients with reduced wearing time or irritation. It is a very good problem solving regime. Normal solutions are needed but Protein tablets can be omitted. New Acuvue Advance are now available with supreme comfort. MONTHLY REPLACEMENTThis is a very successful approach to Lenses and probably gives the best wearing/cost balance of all. They are now available for most prescriptions and in some tints. Normal solutions are needed but Protein tablets can be omitted for most wearers. YEARLY REPLACEMENTThis is the traditional type of Soft Lens and is available for most prescriptions. Normal solutions are needed as well as Protein Removing Tablets. EXTENDED WEARThese Lenses are worn continuously DAY and NIGHT and are available for weekly and monthly replacement. WEEKLY It is worn for six nights, taken out on Saturday Night and thrown away. You have a night without the Lenses and you put a new pair of Lenses in on Sunday morning. My patients have had very few problems with them but it is vital that you follow our wearing instructions. If you keep them in for longer than a week you will have problems. Monthly These are the silicon hydrogel lenses worn continuously. My patients have had very few problems with them but it is vital that you follow our wearing instructions. If you keep them in for longer than suggested you will have problems. BIFOCAL CONTACT LENSESThere are a number of different designs in all modes from daily disposable to
monthly. You wear a Distance Lens in one eye and a Reading Lens in the other eye. It sounds very crude but works extraordinarily well in about 70% of cases. You get a lot of visual information from the 'blurred' eye helping the 'in focus' eye so that you do not notice the difference. Any type of Contact Lens can be used. Cosmetic Contact LensesThese change the colour of your eyes. I will supply them if I am forced to. But I hate them. Why do I hate them? Because anybody who wants to alter their eye colour is either obsessed with fashion and therefore will be a pain in the neck or so psychotic about their appearance that nothing one can do will help them. SOLUTIONSUse the solutions as directed and change them every day. Soft Lenses must be cleaned, rinsed and disinfected every day.
